Ingredients

  • 3-4 cloves for garlic

  • 3 Tbs oil

  • 1/2 cup onion

  • 1/2 cup grated carrot

  • 2 cups Black beans (Rajma)

  • 1/4 cup Spring Onion

  • 2 Tbsp oats flour

  • 2 Tbsp coriander leaves (Cilantro)

  • Spices
  • 2 Tbsp Soya Sauce or Tamari

  • 2 tbs salt

  • 1 tsp chilly powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • 1 Green Chilly (Optional)

  • Toppings
  • Cucumber

  • Tomato

  • Onion

  • Lettuce

  • Spread
  • Hummus

  • Tzatziki

Directions

  • Add 1 tbs oil in pan on medium heat.
  • When oil is hot add garlic & onion. Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  • Add carrot & spring onion and cook for 1 min.
  • In a bowl add mashed black beans along with the vegetable mix that we prepared earlier.
  • Add all the spices & seasoning ingredients.
  • Put coriander leaves & green chilly.
  • Add oats flour and mix everything well.
  • Your mixture should hold a shape now. If the mix is too wet add a little bit more flour or it too dry you might need to add some water.
  • Start making patties, you should get 4-5 patties from this amount of mix.
  • Again put a pan of medium heat and add 2 Tbsp oil.
  • Cook the patties from both side till they are brown, it might take 3-4 mins each side.
  • Now prepare the burger, add the spread and toppings of your choice.

Notes

  • You can use any kind of flour for this recipe in place of oats flour.
  • You can replace soya sauce with 2 Tbsp lemon juice.
Veggie Black Bean Burger

You can choose to be as creative with this burger as you want. Have 2 different spreads on both sides or just do away with one. Add hummus, pesto, hot sauce, chutneys whatever you like. Similarly, with toppings your options are endless.
